IOM’s Community Stabilization programming aims to assistance and support the local governments through

  • Building the resilience and self‐reliance of Refugees and Host community members,
  • Improving access to basic services at the community level,
  • Strengthening social cohesion.

All these activities are assessed, identified, and selected in a participatory process involving the host and refugee communities, as well as local authorities and leaders. The key sectors of intervention may include education, health, temporary   shelter, productive assets, and recreational space.
IOM conducts small-scale repairs and/or rehabilitation of community spaces used by refugees and the host community including public parks, sports spaces, and Women and culture center. These projects restore trust among community members, vulnerable populations, and local authorities, and lay the foundations for durable solutions, lasting peace and sustainable development.
