IOM’s shelter programme developed various strategies to respond to the shelter needs of Refugees as well as other vulnerable host populations in Turkey. The strategy is prepared in line with humanitarian standards. IOM provides rehabilitation and upgrade of housing to vulnerable families to improve accommodation facilities by insulating walls, replacing doors and windows and repainting , Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) upgrades, and repair of internal electrical cabling. Activities are implemented after acquiring endorsement from relevant authorities as well as property owners, including a written landlord agreement, and are carried out by the selected contractors for each location.
