IOM Turkey visited The Grand National Assembly of Turkey’s (TGNA) premises on 17 March 2021 to present IOM and its work in Turkey, to the Sub-Committee on Migration and Integration of the Human Rights Inquiry Committee. TGNA’s Human Rights Inquiry Committee was established as the first mechanism at national levels to protect human rights. The Sub-Committee contacted IOM Turkey Ankara office requesting an overall presentation on IOM and its work regarding Syrians under Temporary Protection. IOM Turkey Ankara Office representatives elaborated IOM Turkey Country Mission's work portfolio regarding Syrians under Temporary Protection (SuTPs), namely, The Refugee Resettlement Program, The IOM Family Assistance Programme (FAP), Refugee Response Program and Migration Management Program. Following the presentation, it was agreed to strengthen the collaboration between the TGNA Sub-Committee and the IOM by organizing awareness-raising activities for Members of Parliament on Syrian migrants, their status and the work of UN Agencies in Turkey regarding SuTPs.
