A workshop entitled “The Role of the Social Security Auditors in International Labour Migration” was held, where social security auditors shared their experiences regarding the problems of migrant labour force rights and discussed the possible solutions.
Social security auditors from cities like Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Van, Mersin, Gaziantep and Bursa have attended the workshop which was organized by International Organization for Migration (IOM) in close cooperation with the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Labour and Social Security- Directorate General of International Labour Force (DGILF).
The issues like, the role of social security auditors in regular employment of migrant labour force; global approaches and standards for the recruitment and employment of migrants; the role of DGILF in the access of foreigners to the labour market; employment of foreigners within the scope of national legislation and jurisdiction; and other prominent issues on social security discussed in the 4-day workshop for two different groups in Istanbul.
In the light of the assessments, participants have worked on certain case studies and shared their experiences in an interactive method.
The workshop was held as part of the UK-supported “Public-Private Partnerships: Facilitating Legal Pathways for the International Labour Force in Turkey” Project.
